در جلسه گشایش این نمایندگی که تعداد زیادی از افغانهای مقیم آن ولایت و مهمانان کانادایی شرکت ورزیده بودند، آقای ارشاد احمدی، شارژدافیر و مستشار وزیرمختار سفارت جمهوری اسلامی افغانستان در اوتاوا طی سخنان کوتاهی گفت، " بسیار خوش هستم که بالاخره توانستیم بیرق افغانستان را در یک گوشۀ دیگر این کشور بالا نماییم، دروازۀ یک نمایندگی دیگر افغانستان را باز نماییم. من به این می بالم که کشور عزیز ما افغانستان این قدر توانایی اقتصادی و سیاسی پیدا کرده است که نمایندگی های خود را در کشور های مختلف جهان باز می نماید، با جهان بیرون ارتباط وسیع برقرار می کند و دوره انزوای گذشته را پشت سر می گذارد." ـ

محفل فاتحه خوانی و امضای کتاب یاد بود شهید استاد ربانی در اوتاوا

سفارتکبرای جمهوری اسلامی افغانستان در اوتاوا به تاریخ 24 سپتمبر 2011 میلادی، به خاطر شهادت جناب استاد برهان الدین ربانی، رئیس شورای عالی صلح و رئیس جمهور اسبق افغانستان، محفل فاتحه خوانی را در مسجد جامع اوتاوا برگزار کرد.

در مراسم فاتحه خوانی آن رهبر فقید جهاد و مقاومت، جمع کثیری از هموطنان افغان مقیم کانادا، از جمله دو نواسه استاد شهید، شرکت ورزیدند. در مراسم مذکور، با دعا و تلاوت آیات چند از کلام الله مجید برای روح مرحومی از بارگاه خداوند (ج) طلب مغفرت وبرای بازماندگانش صبر جمیل تمنا گردید.

Afghanistan’s Minister of Mines Attends the PDAC International Convention & Mining Investment in Toronto, 6-9 March 2011

His Excellency Wahidullah Shahrani, Minister of Mines of Afghanistan will take part in the 2011 PDAC International Convention and Mining Investment Show to be held from 6 to 9 March 2001 in Toronto, Canada. Officials from Afghanistan's Geological Survey will be accompanying the Minister.

During the visit, the Afghan delegation will hold talks with officials from the Canadian federal and provincial governments to discuss ways of increasing Canadian investment in the mining sector of Afghanistan and initiating bilateral technical cooperation for the efficient and transparent management of Afghanistan’s mineral resources . The Minister will also meet with Canadian and international mining industry leaders to discuss mining opportunities in Afghanistan and to invite them to the country.

Canada Border Services Agency experts reflect on their customs training experiences in Kabul
January 2011

Byron Hammersley, John Campbell and Daniel St-James, Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) experts, were in Kabul in 2010 to help train Afghan customs officials at the Afghan National Customs Academy (ANCA). The three CBSA experts took part in four graduation ceremonies throughout the year. In total, Byron, John and Daniel trained 201 Afghan customs officials between January and October 2010. Afghanistan opens its fabled mineral wealth to outsiders

Afghanistan lifted the veil on its mining industry on Sunday and began to open it up for foreign investment, giving the mining industry a chance to capitalize on one of the most prospective -and dangerous -jurisdictions in the world.

At the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) conference, Afghan Mining Minister Wahidullah Shahrani announced that a tender process is being established for its mineral assets to bring in the private sector and allow the country to capitalize on its vast resource wealth. In order to attract that investment from uneasy outsiders, the government is offering major concessions. Those include guaranteed security and an extremely favourable tax regime.

A new fully equiped laboratory is going to be build in the city of Kandahar

The foundation of the Kandahar University Laboratory was laid down by the governor of Kandahar. The head of the press department of the province Said that "this establishment will be build in the campus of Kandahar University and will be completed in the next four months, the three million US dollars spend on the project is provided by the USAID, in addition to that the equipment on the Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Water and Soil Studies will be provided by the Canadian Counterpart."

The Governor of Kandahar highly values the grounds of practical work in the Laboratory for the students of the Kandahar University. This university will be affiliated with other international Universities in the near future.

President Karzai applauds Canada for staying in Afghanistan

LISBON, Portugal - Afghanistan is ``very grateful'' to Canada for agreeing to provide 1,000 military trainers after its combat mission ends next year, Afghan President Hamid Karzai said Saturday.

He made the comment at a news conference after Prime Minister Stephen Harper, U.S. President Barack Obama and fellow NATO leaders adopted a transition plan to wrap up international combat operations in Afghanistan by the end of 2014, but also to establish a long-term partnership to bolster that country's security for years to come.

Dr. SIMA SAMAR RECEIVES THE ‘ORDER OF CANADA
November 17, 2010

Ottawa:  Dr Sima Samar, Chairperson of Afghanistan’s Independent Human Rights Commission was the only non-Canada to receive the Order of Canada from His Excellency David Johnston, the Governor General of Canada.  The Order of Canada, Canada’s highest national award was given to Dr Samar in recognition of her lifelong struggle and outstanding achievements in defense of human rights in Afghanistan and the world.  The presentation took place through a formal ceremony at the Rideau Hall, the official seat of Canada’s Governor General in Ottawa.  His Excellency Jawed Ludin, Afghanistan’s Ambassador in Canada attended the ceremony as a special guest.

Ministers Cannon, MacKay and Oda Announce Canada’s New Role in Afghanistan

Oda, Minister of International Cooperation, today announced a new role for Canada’s engagement in Afghanistan that will build on significant progress in the areas of security, diplomacy, human rights and development.

“Building on strengths and accomplishments over the past years, Canada is committed to helping build a more secure, stable and self-sufficient Afghanistan that is no longer a safe haven for terrorists,” said Minister Cannon.
